Nataly
Hi my name is Nataly, I am eleven years old. I love to dance and do gymnastics. My old elementary school was Langdon elementary school. I went there from pre-k to fifth grade. In my family I have a mom, dad,two older sisters and one dog. Both of my sisters went to Sepulveda middle school so I did too. I don’t think that my elementary school had a bad reputation, but my school that I go to now, which is Sepulveda has a bad reputation. I chose to be in GBLA because I believe we can make a change. For years my school had a good reputation but then all of a sudden that changed and we want to change that. I honestly really think we can make a change. My group which is called ‘’girl power’’ is working on changing our schools reputation. When my teacher told me about this project I was thrilled, focus is changing or school’s reputation. The reputation of our school has affected my and I want to change that. My group thinks that Sepulveda is actually a really good school and we don’t want kids to switch schools because of how the students act. I love to make good changes. We won't give up, we will try our best to make a change. I want kids to come to school knowing that they are safe and that they know that they will get a good education. I think I will learn more about reputations by working on this project. I think that this project will benefit me and this will definitely help my school and it will help my community. I’m super excited to be apart of Girls Build LA and I think we can make a change!

Mayra
Hi my name is Mayra my favorite color is green. I like to do arts & crafts. My elementary school had a good and bad reputation. Now I am in Sepulveda Middle School and it has a bad reputation because of some kids. I’m a member of GBLA because my teacher told us about it. The first time I heard about it one focus was helping the homeless, but actually the main idea is making our community better & improving our school reputation. The main thing my team GBLA is talking about is getting our jobs assigned for each of us so that can help with our project that we are doing. Also I’m not a part of the problem other people are. I really want to change that to help improve our school. I think what I’ll get from this project is a better school reputation. This will effect my future in a good way. This will help me and my future to help me get a good job and accomplish my dreams to become a vet.

Fatima
Hi my name is Fatima. I love to color and draw. I also like to help my mother cook. In addition to that I also like to do my homework. For my 5th grade school I went to Alta California Elementary School. I actually got through it all and it was pretty easy. My family has their own hobby like my mom, dad, brother, sister and I. My mother's and father's hobby is going to work. My sister's hobby is being on her phone, and my brother's hobby is playing with his lego's. My hobby is coloring. None of my parent's went to Sepulveda, but L can tell that they would've loved to. At my elementary school there were reputation problems. For example, like fighting, bullying, getting in trouble, and others judging others on how they loo. I am a member of Girls Build LA because I like to work with others. Girls Build LA is awesome because you get to clean up your school, help their reputation, and these things make the community better.

Kennedy
Hello, my name is Kennedy and I'm a 6th grader at Sepulveda Middle School and I attended Carlos Santana Elementary School. I joined GBLA because I want to make it clear that girls can do anything that boys can do. I also want to make my family proud of me.My auntie recently died and it's been hard for my family to believe. Whenever I get money I give it to my mom so we can have enough money to have a house. You want to know why? Because I LOVE DOGS - I wish I could show schools' you my notebook full of dog drawings. I know lots of little girls say they are sweet but I know I am - you can even ask my family if you want to! My older brother and two older sisters attended Sepulveda MA. My sisters both loved the Dance program and my older brother says he was a troublemaker and has always told me not to be like him and to be the opposite cause it will mean a lot when it comes to walking the stage in 8th grade.
When I grow up I want to be a veterinarian or a pet show owner. My teacher asked if I wanted to join GBLA and I said "yes". We have talked a lot about our schools' reputation and what we could do to change it. I thin my efforts will bring me a good reputation and my school too! I will also help to care for the plants at our school and help the homeless in our community. We can go to the Neighborhood Council in our community to ask for help with the homeless cause I read on their website that their mission includes, " to strengthen, educate, and beautify our community and act as a liaison between the stakeholders of North Hills East and the City of Los Angeles". |

MariaHello, my name is Maria. I went to Carlos Santana Elementary School. I love sports - basketball, football, handball - I love to play! I also like to draw a lot. I am glad to be at Sepulveda MS. At home, I help my mom cleaning the house. All my cousins went to Sepulveda (Abraham, Jessica, Bryan and Sam). In my elementary school it had a reputation of kids that said bad words and disrespected adults. In GBLA I want to make a change in our community. When I heard about the project I wanted to make a big change. I think the most important thing is to change the reputation of our school in the community and figure out how to help the homeless. I think my effort will bring a better reputation to our school. I believe this project will teach me to be a better person because so far, I know how important it is to behave well and model it for others. Why? Because I want a good education and it's up to us kids to teach each other about how we control our reputation and we should want the best for ourselves!

Karyssa
Hello, my name is Karyssa, I am thirteen years old. I love to read, sing, and I adore anything creative. It took time for my family to settle into a nice house when I was born, so I went to three different elementary schools until I found a nice house. For kindergarten-first grade I went to Sylmar Elementary, for second grade till the middle of fourth-grade I went to Gridley Street Elementary School, and for half of fourth-grade till fifth grade I went to Montague Charter Academy. My family at home consists of my mom, dad, one younger brother, and three dogs. Currently, I’m in the magnet program in Sepulveda Middle School. My elementary schools did not have a bad reputation, but Sepulveda(the school I go to now) has a bad reputation. I chose to be in GBLA because desire and believe I we can make a change. Sepulveda Middle School use to have a good reputation, but over the years it has changed to a bad reputation. The girls in GBLA, like myself want to change this reputation to a good one. My group believes Sepulveda is a good school and we want to change our bad reputation to a good one. So, I believe we can make a good change and we can do it ! I want students to come to Sepulveda and feel safe. I also want them to feel good to come to a great school with good education. I believe this project will make me learn more about reputations, and will benefit me and my community as well as my school. I am extremely excited and thrilled to be apart of such an amazing group, and I believe we can make a great change for the best of all of us.
